Mercado Global is a non-profit fair trade organization that links the world’s most rural and economically-disadvantaged cooperatives to the U.S. market through a model that provides both fair wages and investments in community’s long-term development. To establish their e-commerce division, Verge Studios built upon existing open source software powered by Zen-Cart, extending the existing code to make it possible for customers to send an free of charge gift to friends after completion of purchase. In addition, Verge Studios provided high quality photo editing services for both their online site and print catalogue.
